Irene Mendez, born in San Antonio, Texas to Sebastian Rodriguez and Francisca Herrera Rodriguez on October 20, 1929.

Loving mother to Sebastian (Maria Diaz) Mendez, Iris (William) Colon, Irene (Jeff) Cortazzo, and Patsy Mendez.  Cherished grandmother to Damaris, Tito, Carlos, Edwin, Sebastian, and Maria Isabel Mendez, Amanda, Emily, and Alexandra Faith Colon, Marisa, Victoria, Francesca, and Juliana Cortazzo, and Audrey Marie Velez.  Beloved great grandmother to Jacob, Alejandro, Christian, Joshua, Samuel, Ayden, Joseph, Jonah, and Jemma Rose, whom she cherished greatly. Dear sister of Celestino Rodriguez, Maria Garcia and the late Monica Lopez and Janie Martinez.
 
Irene was extremely proud to call herself a nurse. She enjoyed dancing and loved traveling, especially to Texas to visit her family. She loved playing tennis, swimming, walking, knitting, crocheting, oil and water painting, and cooking from scratch. Helping people also brought her joy. 
 
94 years, 5 months and 5 days. 

 

Irene will be cremated, and interment is to be determined at a later date. If you would like to send flowers, there is a link on our home page.

Holy Rosary Church
Thursday, April 4, 2024 - 10:00am
We will meet at the funeral home at 9:30am then proceed to the church next door for 10am mass

I pray that many that have gone before her are waiting for her with open arms. She was loved and appreciated by many. My condolences to her brothers and sisters who are still here on this earth thinking of her and their loss. Also praying for all the family members who are still here that cared for her all of the medical teams that helped During her illness. Thank you for all the joy that you brought when you were at a party and celebrated with all your heart. You truly have earned your wings.
