Laurel Jean McGinness, 61, passed away on June 17 after a sudden illness following a long struggle with kidney disease. Laurel was born in Oak Park, Illinois on Febrary 22, 1952, and lived almost her entire adult life in the city of Chicago. Laurel worked at a variety of jobs in the City and she loved and lived for everything the City had to offer in the way of art, music and theater. She is survived by her mother Bernice and brother John (Kim). Laurel was the beloved companion and dearest life partner of Norbert Kappes. She was the loving daughter to the late John McGinness and dear sister to the late Nancy McGinness. She was a fond aunt to Kailey, John and Alexander McGinness and a loving cousin to Robert, David, Chris (Kathy) Barbara (William), William (MaryAnn), Timothy (Cathy), Beth (Rich), Joan (Ron), Janet (Charles), Robert (Sheri), Kathleen (Edwin) and Doris (Andrij). Laurel was a dear niece to Margaret McGinness (late Warren) and Gladys Wick (late Robert). Laurel was a devoted friend to so many, especially Diane, Judy, Cisley, Marty and Jim.
