Marlies Stanton, 93, has passed away after a brief illness. She was pre-deceased by her husband George and is survived by her children Kathleen, George and Dennis.
Born in Germany where she sucessfully apprenticed to become a Konditor, Marlies then immigrated to Chicago where she met George, married and raised her family on the north side of Chicago. She returned to work in the area and ultimately took the opportunity to own and operate a neighborhood bakery for nearly half of the bakery's history, during which time all three of her children became involved. She successfully ran it up to its closing a few years ago. Marlies mentored many and provided selflessly for her family and staff. She was also very supportive of her community.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal services were held and a private celebration of her life will be forthcoming. Remembrance donations may be made to: Ascension Illinois Rainbow Hospice, American Cancer Society, or your local animal shelter.
