It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Nagrant, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, who peacefully passed away on March 9, 2025 at the age of 83.

Born on August 14, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mary was the eldest daughter of Joseph Kehoe and Catherine Burns Kehoe. From a young age, she embodied the strength and nurturing spirit of her Irish heritage, a trait that guided her throughout her life.

For 50 beautiful years, she shared a deep and abiding love with her husband, Robert Nagrant. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and unwavering commitment, a source of strength and inspiration for their family.

Mary dedicated her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. As a skilled and compassionate nurse, she provided comfort and healing to countless patients, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Her gentle touch and empathetic nature extended beyond her profession, shaping her interactions with everyone she met.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Greg and James. She was a loving grandmother to Mallari, Natalie, Isla, and Lilian, who will miss her dearly. She poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home, filled with laughter, delicious baked goods, and cherished memories. Her children and her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Beyond her family and career, Mary was a woman of many talents and passions. She found solace and joy in the pages of countless books, her mind always eager to explore new worlds and ideas. Her skilled hands brought beauty to life through intricate needlepoint creations, each stitch a testament to her patience and artistry. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and delicious aromas, where her baking skills created treats that delighted all who tasted them.

Mary will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and gentle spirit. Her legacy of love, compassion, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her children, Greg (Sandy) Nagrant and James (Eliana) Nagrant; her grandchildren, Mallari Smolinske, Natalie Nagrant, Isla Nagrant, and Lilian Nagrant; her sisters, Nora Jones and Clare Kehoe; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Kehoe and Catherine Burns Kehoe; her husband Robert Nagrant; her brothers, James Kehoe and Joseph Kehoe; and her sister, Claudia Kehoe.

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14th at 10am. at Rago Brothers 7751 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Nagrant memory to https://www.stjude.org
