Ninette Rabins

Birth Date:
Friday, December 11, 1953
Date of Death:
Tuesday, July 23, 2024

Our intelligent, fun-loving, sharp-witted and beautiful sister Ninette (Nicki) Rabins passed away on Tuesday the 23rd of July just 9 weeks from her diagnosis of brain cancer.  She was in her home, surrounded by those who loved her dearly and at peace in her final days.  It's a stunning turn of events in a short time but her family feels the short time frame was a blessing.  Ninette was unique in living life on her own terms, traveling, loving Shady, Halley and Bella, her dog companions over the years, caring for others and enjoying a broad group of devoted friends. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

Ninette is preceded in death by her parents Nina and Fred Rabins and her niece Monica Fowler.  She is survived by her two sisters, Roni Rabins-Malic and Sherri Fowler who cared for her unselfishly in her final weeks, her brother Erick Rabins (Marta) and her loving nieces and nephews, Chelsey Byrd (Jay), Alex Malic (Loretta), Katherine Malic-Higgins (Conor, Shea, Finn and Kai), Max Malic (Sarah), Nina Yanine (Oscar) and Lucas Rabins.  Our adopted family, Lesley Linn was a constant presence during this difficult time as well.

Ninette touched many lives through her long career with Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor which suited her special ability to make all those who knew her feel like her extended family.  She volunteered to spend time with the elderly in nursing homes along with her dog daughter Bella where they both provided companionship to many who were alone in their later years.

Ninette was born December 11th 1953 and spent her life in the Chicago area but traveled broadly, developing a worldly perspective.  She had an affinity for spiritual matters like astrology and numerology and thus it was fitting she passed at 12:53pm which is the date of her birth 12/53!

Nicki was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was both extremely sensitive and undeniably generous.....A life well lived.

A memorial service and celebration of her life is being planned for a TBD date in August.  An announcement will be forthcoming with details on her CaringBridge website.

In lieu of flowers, we would encourage contributions to your local chaper of Paws in both Ninette's and her much loved Bella's names.

A service to celebrate Ninette's life will be held on September 7th at 11:00-2:00 at Rago Brothers Funeral Home, 7751 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL 60634. Friends and family are invited to attend and share in this time of remembrance.

The Behr Family
Ninette was not only our financial advisor, but beloved friend of the Behr family. Your words above describe her perfectly. We will be making a donation in her name to our local chapter of PAWS here in Northern, VA as well as PAWS in Chicago to honor sweet Bella.
