Date of Death:

Rene Rivera, age 67, of Chicago, Illinois, peacefully transitioned on March 17, 2026, surrounded by love. A proud Puerto Rican man, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rene lived a life rooted in faith, strength, and deep love for his family.

Rene was a man of pride and presence. Always well dressed, carrying himself with dignity, and leaving a lasting impression wherever he went. In the early 2000s, he gave his life to Christ, and from that moment forward, his faith became a guiding light in his life. He was known for his warm spirit, his wisdom, and the way he made others feel seen, valued, and loved.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gregorio and Francisca Rivera; his twin brother Jimmy; other brothers Edwino, Edwin, Gilberto; sisters Luz, Gladys, Rosalia, grandson DeQuan Biggs and granddaughter Mayelissa Rivera.

Rene leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through his devoted wife, Nelly Correa; his children, Jimmy Rivera, Ruben Rivera, Melissa Rivera, Carlos (Michelle) Rivera; stepchildren: Charles (Edna) Hernandez, Nelson Correa, and Joey Correa; granddaughter Ashanti Rivera; and his cherished siblings, Hilda Rivera, Milta Rivera, Carmen Rivera, Ramon Rivera, and William Rivera.

He also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom were touched by his kindness and presence.

Rene will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, lived proudly, and walked in faith. His legacy will continue through the lives he shaped and the love he gave so freely.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace and on his way home.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

— 2 Timothy 4:7
