William F. Browne, 90, of Evanston, IL, passed away on December 8, 2025, at Three Crowns Park.
Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ellen P. Browne (née Burbach), his wife of nearly 47 years. Known affectionately as Uncle Bill to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, he cared deeply for his extended family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
Bill was a lifelong learner, relishing any opportunity to expand his knowledge. This was an especially important part of his life when he retired from his longtime service with the US Department of Labor. He and Ellen shared a passion for adventure—whether sailing on Lake Michigan or traveling abroad together, they embraced each journey with joy and curiosity.
Bill will be remembered for his generous heart, warm spirit, and enduring kindness. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
