I grew up on Melvina down the block from where Billy lived and knew him since 3rd grade at Luther Burbank school. You know, Billy had a tough exterior but he was actually a very kind man! I recall when he was a young man he'd stop by my parent's house on Melvina and he would interact with my youngest sister very patiently and kindly. I didn't have the patience he had for my snot nosed sister but he did! Rest In Peace brother!

This is cousin Steve from Chicago. I remember Saturday mornings with my mother, traveling north in our car up Michigan Avenue to be with Aunt Vernie, my mother's sister. Billy, Gerry, Cathy and I would be playing while my mother and Aunt Vernie would be in the kitchen making 300 homemade cheese ravioli. They would each take half. We were so young. Billy wasn't even in school yet but we all had so much fun in that little apartment. When Billy's father came home from work we were well behaved. Billy and I hunted with my Brittany pointer, Brandy every weekend. We fished on my Ranger boat and went on vacations together, went to all the Bears games and Sox games and so much more. There are so many stories to tell between me and Billy it virtually would take a lifetime. Billy and I could tell stories of us together that would make you smile. One day, Billy, Brandy and I will be together huntin' again. Billy and I would take the shirts off our backs to help each other. AMEN, so it is, Thanks be to God.

I had the privilege of working with Bill for many years. He was a genuinely good person—funny, easygoing, and always brought a positive energy to those around him. He had a great sense of humor and a sharp taste in whiskey. I’m truly sorry I couldn’t be there to say goodbye in person—I’m in Florida right now—but my thoughts have been with him and his loved ones. He’ll be deeply missed. Rest easy, my friend.
