Jenny R. Eguiguren (nee Pozo) passed away on Monday, May 13 at the age of 91.

Jenny was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on February 5th, 1933, to Victor Emilio Pozo Gonzalez and Cristina Amanda Gonzalez Vera de Pozo.

 Jenny is survived by her husband, Byron L. Eguiguren, whom she met at the University of Guayaquil. On January 25, 1962, they married and moved to Heidelberg, Germany for his graduate studies. She enjoyed their time in Germany and their travels in Europe, where she gained her love for opera.  In 1963, they came to the U.S. and raised their family in Winnetka, IL.

Jenny was a loving mother to José (Aída Sanchez) Eguiguren and Lolita Eguiguren and devoted grandmother to Enrique, Luis, and Belén Eguiguren. She was preceded in death by her dear sisters Violeta Pozo, Nelly Chiriboga Pozo and Susa Alvarez Pozo. She was the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Her family was the most important thing to her.

Jenny was a kind woman known for her compassion and thoughtfulness. She loved laughing and making jokes, enjoyed music, dancing, and eating out at restaurants. Jenny was a strong and courageous person who arrived in the U.S. as a young woman in a foreign land and raised her family to appreciate the U.S. and her Ecuadorian heritage.

A private visitation is being arranged for family members from 10-10:30am Thursday, May 23rd at Central Baptist Village, 4747 N. Canfield Ave., Norridge, IL 60706. Prayer service at 10:30 am

A special thanks to the community at Central Baptist Village where Jenny resided the last six years of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jenny’s memory to Central Baptist Village (Other Funds - Central Baptist Village (cbvillage.org)), to either the Creative Arts, Home for Life and/or Employee Appreciation Funds.
