With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we share the passing of an amazing mother, devoted grandmother, caring sister, loving aunt, loyal friend, and beautiful soul, Blandina Ortiz.

Blandina was born on September 20, 1961, in San José de Morellitos, Durango, Mexico, to her parents, Maria Cirila Arreola and Lino Ortiz. She was a loving and devoted mother who gave everything she had to her beloved grandson Sebastian ,granddaughter Savanah Mia and daughter  Mari. She is survived by her siblings Lino Ortiz, Heber Ortiz, Margarita Holtgeerts, and Manuela Velasco. She was preceded in death by her siblings Idolia Ortiz, Florentino Ortiz, and Octavio Cazarez.

Blandina had a deep passion for flowers and proudly passed her green thumb on to her daughter Mari, teaching her that every flower is beautiful in its own way. Springtime was especially meaningful to her, she always looked forward to going shopping with her daughter to Home Depot to pick out flowers for their garden, a simple joy that brought her so much happiness. She tended her garden with love and care, finding peace among her blooms.

If you knew Blandina, you knew she was a devout Catholic, a strong and courageous woman, and someone who worked tirelessly throughout her life. “Hardworking” hardly captures her spirit. She began working at a very young age and continued with determination and dedication until the very end. She was never afraid to speak up for herself, and through her perseverance and integrity, she became a respected leader and mentor in her workplace.

For those who had the great privilege of knowing her, words can hardly express the loyal, generous, and steadfast friend she was. Her strength, faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

One more thing, she deeply loved her dog Aston, who was a great companion and joy in her life.

Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star, so strong and bright, gentle Mother. Gentle Sister, I wouldn't be the person I am today without your love and support. I will never have enough words to thank you for taking care of me and my mom. You will forever remain in my thoughts, in my heart.

Let us celebrate the life of a beautiful person who definitely made an impact in the little time I’ve known her. From her joking about borrowing Neveah for a weekend, offering me refreshments while doing yard work, or simply just praising my lasagna. But most of all, I will forever be grateful to her for repairing an afghan blanket that my mother made. To the family, I pray for strength to fight the sorrow and that you find peace in your hearts.
