John Skiba

Birth Date:
Wednesday, December 14, 1955
Date of Death:
Thursday, February 13, 2025

Beloved husband of Caryn, nee Schulz; loving brother of Joseph (Barbara), Maria (the late Rich Hanzel) Dagley, Tina (Ted) Godek, Krys (Jim) Kaczmarek, Michelle (Jim) Davison; dear brother in law of Jack (Connie) Schulz and Scott (Patti) Schulz; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

John was a proud alumni of Lane Tech High School.  It is there that he met his wife, Caryn.  Caryn and John recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. John was a bus driver for Pace Northwest for many years. After retirement, he volunteered at the Seniors Assistance Center in Norridge as a Home Delivered Meals driver. He loved to travel and planned on taking many trips after retirement. Unfortunately, illness changed those plans.  Thankfully, while he could he enjoyed many wonderful trips to far flung places with his wife, Caryn- among them Africa, South America, Iceland, Greenland and many others.  John was always upbeat and happy even during his illness. He was always willing to help people whenever he could. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Heavenly Father,
We wish that he was here a little longer,
It’s selfish, this we know,
But he was a good husband, friend and brother
And we love him so.
We’ll remember him as he was
In all his different roles.
His smile, his friendship, his giving heart.
He was a special soul.
He lived with joy and died without complaining,
“It is what it is” we heard him saying.
It is in faith that we believe he is living now with You.
We ask for your peace and guidance
To carry his memory with us on our journey, too.
Amen

We would like to extend our condolences at this time for the loss of John. We had the pleasure of seeing and being with John at Pace thru the years. We would often talk about his day, travels and current events. He will indeed be missed and in our prayers. God Bless.
