In Loving Memory of Christopher “Chris” Brejnak
Christopher “Chris” Brejnak, 42, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished so much. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Chris’ life was a testament to the power of presence, passion, and unconditional love.
Chris is survived by his wife of 12 years, Natasha, and their three children—Jack (11), Susan (9), and Ryen (7)—who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his parents, Peter and Nadia Brejnak; brothers, Matthew and Peter (wife Dilaila); nephew, Peter and nieces, Sarah and Nadia; and many loving cousins as well as dear friends—both lifelong and new.
Chris’ weekends were spent in the stands of many Chicagoland hockey arenas. Whether it was early morning hockey practices, road trips to tournaments or cheering on the volleyball court sidelines, he was there—always present, always proud. More than a spectator, Chris was a motivator and a joyful, steadfast supporter. He believed sports taught more than just skills—they shaped character, resilience, and teamwork.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rago Brothers Funeral Home on Western Avenue. In true Chris fashion and in celebration of his humor and spirit, family and friends are invited to wear their favorite hockey jersey in his honor.
Family and friends will meet for a Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 28, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church (please meet directly at church, there will be no procession from the funeral home), with procession after mass to the interment chapel at St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Christopher’s name to the Chicago Stallions Youth Hockey Organization, a youth sports organization of your choice, or the American Heart Association. These causes reflect the passions that defined his life—his unwavering dedication to youth sports and his heartfelt appreciation for the medical care he received throughout his life, which made it possible for him to give so fully to the game, and to others.
